Timely Filing Limits: What You Need to Know
Timely Filing Limits: What You Need to Know

Timely filing limits dictate the time frame within which claims must be submitted to insurance.

Understanding the Timely Filing Limit

Timely filing refers to the time limit set by insurance companies within which a claim must be submitted to be eligible for processing or reimbursement. Each insurance company determines its own timely filing limits, which can vary significantly, ranging from 90 days to 18 months, depending on their specific rules and guidelines.

For example, if an insurance company has a 90-day timely filing limit, you must submit your claim within 90 days from the date of service. Failure to meet this deadline typically results in the claim being denied, meaning the services will not be reimbursed.

Mentaya's Policy on Timely Filing

Given the importance of timely filing, we only accept superbills that fall within the timely filing limit of your insurance provider. When you submit superbills with retroactive dates of service, our team will review them to ensure they are within the allowable time frame.

If any dates of service submitted via superbill are past the timely filing limit, we will notify you via email, specifying which claims will not be processed. Additionally, we will issue refunds for any fees incurred for those superbills, and the claims will not be billed out.

Timely Filing Limits by State and Insurance Provider

Below is a comprehensive database of timely filing limits for various insurance providers across different states. These limits are calculated from the date of service, and adherence to these time frames is crucial for successful claim processing.

Please note that the timely filing limits provided in this list are estimates based on information from various insurance companies. In some instances, the limits reflect those for in-network claims, as specific details for out-of-network claims may not be readily available from the insurance providers.

When we submit superbills, we adhere to the timely filing limits as provided by the insurance company to ensure proper claim processing.
